Lil Grom Surf ‘N Paddle Camp is a four-day surf camp built for kids ages 6 to 10. Campers spend their days learning to surf at Ocean Street Beach in Beach Haven — all under small, attentive ratios. It’s designed to build water confidence while kids make friends and have a blast on Long Beach Island.

What Your Lil Grom Will Learn

The camp meets each child at their level and focuses on confidence first. Most of the week is spent surfing at Ocean Street Beach, learning to pop up, read the ocean, and ride those first waves. When the surf is rough, or the group is very young, we head to the calm bay at Bayview Park, where kids practice the same pop-up with paddleboards first on flatter water, plus the safety and etiquette every young surfer needs.

  • Most days: surfing at Ocean Street Beach in Beach Haven, where campers spend the bulk of camp learning to ride.
  • Some days: paddleboarding on the calm bay at Bayview Park (6805 Long Beach Blvd) if ocean conditions call for it — check-in 9:50 AM for a 10:00 AM start.
  • Skills covered: popping up, paddling into waves, wave safety, ocean awareness, and surf etiquette.

Small Ratios & Certified Expert Instruction

Water safety and proper technique form the foundation of our camp. Backed by over a decade of local coaching expertise, our professional, CPR-certified instructors maintain a tight 3:1 camper-to-instructor ratio in the ocean and a 5:1 ratio on the bay. This ensures every Lil Grom receives personalized, attentive guidance in a highly supervised setting. While independent swimming ability is required to participate, our team focuses on building lifelong ocean confidence, water respect, and foundational surf skills in a supportive, high-energy environment.
