The Beach Haven SUP eco-tour is our signature experience — a relaxed, social paddle across Barnegat Bay packed with wildlife and views. Launching from Pearl Street at the bay, you’ll glide out to Mordecai Island and through quiet coves at a conversational pace over about an hour and 45 minutes. First-timers and seasoned paddlers fit right in, and groups love it for birthdays and bachelorette outings.
Where the Tour Goes and What You’ll See
The tour launches from Pearl Street and heads to Mordecai Island, weaving through coves the whole way. It’s not a race — the focus is wildlife, scenery, and good company.
Barnegat Bay is one of only 28 estuaries the EPA’s National Estuary Program recognizes as nationally significant, and it shows: expect ospreys, great blue herons, egrets, turtles, and rays, with dolphins now and then. Sightings vary by season, but there’s almost always something worth pausing for.
Designed for First-Timers
At South End Surf ‘N Paddle, we offer a wide selection of beginner-friendly experiences. No paddleboarding experience is needed. The bay is calm and protected, and guides walk everyone through the basics at the launch so you feel steady before heading out on open water.
Every participant is outfitted with a life jacket, and our guides are CPR-certified — important on the water, as the U.S. Coast Guard notes that proper life jacket use is the single most effective safety measure for boaters and paddlers alike. To ensure everyone gets personalized attention, this tour runs at a tight 5:1 paddler-to-instructor ratio.
Group Pricing and Celebrations
